In my previous blog I spoke about how the show, “Everybody Loves Raymond”, relates to my family. Now I will tell you what others think of the sitcom. I will also tell you why or why not this is a good sitcom.
Reviews from Common Sense Media state that there is too much “Focus on adult relationships… including (in) frequency of sex…
They also say, “Characters are affectionate but also frequently fight and express resentment.”
I say, I must agree with Common Sense Media on the fact that there is a lack of sex. Which anyone who is married knows that this is what happens. It’s not a bad thing it’s just that we become so comfortable with ourselves and life style.
Now, as far as “frequent fighting and expression of resentment”, it is very true how we all fight with our families. We tend to say things that hurt others, but it is always out of love.
Betsy Wallace says, “Is it Any Good.”
She speaks blunt and gets to the point. She says, “The cast is stellar and plotlines shed light on universal human insecurities, such as, doubting that your spouse still finds you attractive as you grow older.”
I agree, we all worry about what we will look like and if our spouses will still be attracted to us.
Here are some views from “Television Heaven.”
There are many people who love this surrealistic family comedy–and others who think it’s annoying and overly loud. The fans outweigh the critics: 'Everybody Loves Raymond' succeeded by mixing the long-standard formula of battling spouses, meddling in-laws and quirky co-stars into a satisfying blend that was familiar on the surface, yet had more than a kernel of truth about family ... “
Well, I will say that I am one of the fans who love it. Yes, Raymond has a whiney voice but it so perfect with the in which he plays. “Battling spouses and meddling in-laws,” it is nice that we can pick our spouses but we can’t pick our in-laws. This is one of those times I would say,” Welcome to my World.”
Entertainment Weekly will sum it up by stating…
Raymond is the rarest of sitcoms -- one with a genuinely original point of view.

"Welcome to my World"
Raymond, Raymond, Raymond. Who is Raymond? Raymond is a comedian who has logical humor. He also has a show called “Everybody Loves Raymond.” Ray is Italian with typical Italian parents. He is a “mamma’s boy” and what "Ray wants, Ray gets." Rays mom, Marie Burone, has this obsurb idea that Ray does nothing wrong.
Here is one of my all time favorites is the Mother-in-Law. I love my mother-in-law. She doesn’t come over to our house like Marie, does to Deborah, but she is always knows whats going on. She enjoys drama. Everything to her is a tragedy. From something as small as, “do my shoes match my outfit” to “Oh my! What if the puppies are born and I am at work!”
My husband doesn’t play golf, but he does play “WOW”, “World of Warcraft.” He will sit for hours playing the game and not think about his surroundings. This is one of the situations I have with my mother-in-law. When it comes to her son everything is okay for instance, the addiction my husband has with “WOW” is okay because he is not in the bars out drinking. Now again, here comes that word “Idiot”. Then I say, “Ruth he pays no attention to his family” but it’s okay as long as he is not in the bars. This reminds of Marie as long as her son is happy everything is fine. God forbid we upset her son.
Now that is all said and done my show is over. I must leave you with this tid-bit of information. My husband is now tries to be more helpful, since I am in school. Though, I must say that “WOW” is still priority to him. Well, I am still doing the laundry, washing the dishes, some cooking and working two jobs. I also make sure the girls are doing homework, getting to school on time and whatever else needs to be done. This is my favorite saying and all the reasons above,“Welcome to my World!”
Deborah, Rays wife, likes to call Ray an "Idiot" when he does dumb stuff. We have a saying in our house about things we can’t find. It started when Richard, my husband, opens the refrigerator to get out the sour cream. Well, of course he could not find it. So, naturally I get up, go to the refrigerator, move some things out of the way and hand it to him. Then we started saying, “Move something Richard!” That is something that occurs regularly in our house. So now, even if my girls are looking for something and can’t find it, one of us will shout out “Move something Richard!” It can sometimes also follow that with the word “Idiot”.
