“Happy Anniversary”
“Happy Anniversary baby the years are rushing by us
You’re more beautiful today then when we walked down the isle
And I’m no good at this but what I’m trying to say is
Having you stand beside me has make my life worth wild.”
This is the first verse of one of my favorite songs my husband and I dance to every year on our anniversary. This song is written and sang by John Micheal Montgomery. I will always remember song it is so true. When he says, “the years are rushing by” how fast they begin to slip away. When Richard sings this song to me it makes me wonder, how did I get so lucky? Well then again, how did he get so lucky? Although I will say it was not luck but fate.
“One true friend is what you’ve always been to me
One true friend is what I always want to be
To have someone to love you and that’s true happiness
May you live to be a hundred, may I live one day less.”
The chorus is so awesome! I would not want to live one day without him. We are best friends and will always be. We can’t live without each other, I guess because we depend on one another. If I’m doing something it’s as if he knows what it is, he will do whatever else needs to be done. In others words we “complete each other” (so sappy).
I want to tell you something about how I met my husband. I was thirteen and he was seventeen, I was his sister’s best friend. Oh yeah, he was my brothers best friend. We started sneaking around to see one another. We had code names when we called each other, I was Lisa. We have been together ever since except for when I turned eighteen. I’ve had enough of this one man stuff. It wasn’t till I turned twenty-one that we got back together. I had three years of sowing my oats and maybe sowed some others.
Now here we are twenty-five years later still going strong and still in love. We have only been married for thirteen years. I wouldn’t change anything about it.
If you ever get the chance to listen to John Micheal Montgomery, this is just one of many of his awesome songs. So now every year on our anniversary we make sure we find time to dance to this song.
To my dearest husband,
“You never stopped believing in us and I know I’m one of the lucky ones.”
